SCOOP! Lexus IS to be discontinued in November, except for a few models – Ahead of that, a special edition of IS500 is now available

A special edition “Climax Edition” of the Lexus IS500 with a 5L-V8 engine, which is one class higher than the car’s rating, has been announced. A limited edition of 500 units will go on sale in Japan around August.

This special edition model is equipped with Brembo front 6-pod calipers, high-friction brake pads and fin-type disc brakes, red-painted calipers, and BBS 19-inch forged wheels with matte black paint.

Externally, Neutrino Gray is available as an exclusive body color.

The interior features an eye-catching combination of black and red contrasting ultra suede and L-tex leather seats, a dimpled leather-wrapped steering wheel, and red seatbelts. The center console and door scuff plates are decorated with exclusive logos. The opening screen of the 8-inch TFT LCD meter is also exclusive.

With these features, it is priced at 9.5 million yen.

The Lexus IS is now a valuable Japanese sports sedan, and while the release of a special edition model that highlights the presence of the top model is welcome news, the end of production of most models is steadily approaching. The end of production is scheduled for November of this year and is expected to be announced on June 20.
The IS500, IS350, IS300h 4WD model, and IS300 will be discontinued. In other words, the special edition model debuted this time is effectively the IS500 Final Edition, but no mention has been made of the end of production.
